Custom Homes · Fraser Valley

Built by the same team
that built our reputation.

We are taking a limited number of custom home builds per year. Same in-house Red Seal electricians and plumbers, same framing crew, same project management as our renovations and additions. BC 2-5-10 New Home Warranty plus the Huntley 12-month workmanship commitment.

Quick Answer

Huntley Construction is taking a limited number of custom home builds per year in Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley. The team behind these builds, in-house Red Seal electricians and plumbers, BC Licensed Electrical Contractor, framing crew, and project management, is the same team that has been running renovations, additions, and second-storey work since 2020. Custom home construction includes design and engineering coordination, permits, foundation and framing, mechanical rough-in, full finish, and BC 2-5-10 New Home Warranty registration. Pricing varies with finish level, site difficulty, and design complexity.

Where we stand

Honest positioning, not a sales pitch.

Most contractors who advertise custom home builds claim a long history of them. We are not going to do that. Huntley Construction has spent the last several years building the in-house team behind those builds: framing, Red Seal electrical, Red Seal plumbing, seamless gutters, project management. We have proven that team across dozens of completed renovations and additions in Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley since 2020. We are now opening a limited number of custom-home build slots per year on the same team and the same standards.

If you are looking for a builder with a portfolio of 50 finished custom homes under their belt, that is not us yet. If you are looking for a Chilliwack-based, BC Licensed Electrical Contractor with Red Seal trades on payroll, real BC Building Code experience, BC 2-5-10 warranty registration, and a project management approach that has run renovations on schedule for years, that is exactly what we are offering. The early conversations are the most important ones, so we would rather start there than oversell the page.

What you get on a Huntley build

The team and the
warranty stack.

01

In-house Red Seal trades

Framing, electrical, plumbing, and seamless gutters are all Huntley employees rather than subcontracted. The crew rough-in coordinating your kitchen plumbing is the same crew on the next job. The trades that drive most of a custom-home schedule are on our payroll.

02

BC Licensed Electrical Contractor

Our electrical division pulls trade permits directly through Technical Safety BC. One of the most common scheduling stalls on custom builds, waiting for an electrical contractor to file or correct a permit, simply does not happen on our jobs.

03

BC 2-5-10 New Home Warranty

BC custom homes are covered by the mandatory 2-5-10 warranty: 2 years on labour and materials, 5 years on the building envelope, 10 years on structural defects, backed by third-party insurance. We carry the warranty registration and the underwriting that makes it real.

04

12-month Huntley Workmanship Commitment

On top of the BC warranty, every Huntley project carries our own 12-month workmanship commitment. If something we built or installed is not right, we come back. No cost, no argument.

The process

Five stages,
carried by one team.

01

Early conversation

Before lot, before architect, before drawings. We sit down, hear what you are trying to build, and tell you honestly whether it is something we can take on. If our schedule does not fit your timeline, we say so.

02

Design and budget alignment

We work with your designer or architect, or recommend ones we have built renovations and additions with. Plans are reviewed against real BC build costs before they get final, so we are not framing in change orders the design pretended would be free.

03

Permits and engineering

Engineers, surveyors, energy advisors, and the municipality. Trade permits go through us directly because of the BC LEC. Building permits go through us or you depending on what makes sense for your project, and we settle that before we sign anything.

04

Site, foundation, framing

Excavation, forming, foundation, framing, weatherization. Our framing crew runs alongside our Red Seal electricians and plumbers because they are on the same payroll. Rough-ins coordinate in person rather than across vendor calendars.

05

Finish and closeout

Cabinetry, tile, trim, paint, flooring, fixtures, final mechanical. Walkthrough, deficiency list, fix, signoff. You move in. The 12-month workmanship commitment begins on the day you take possession, layered over the BC 2-5-10.

For designers and their clients

Your execution partner.

If you are an interior designer or architect with a client building in the Fraser Valley, we are an execution partner that can carry your design through to a finished home with in-house trades on a single schedule. We do not override design intent. We honour it, with the project management to back that up.

If you are a homeowner working with a designer already, we work with them. If you are starting from zero, we can recommend designers and architects we have built with on renovations and additions and respect. What we will not do is force you into a single design-build path you did not ask for.

Common questions

Before you build.

The honest answers we give first-time custom-home clients at the earliest conversation.

  • Huntley Construction has not yet completed a from-scratch custom home build under the Huntley name. We have spent the last several years building the team that will do them, our framing crew, our Red Seal electricians and plumbers in-house, our BC LEC certification, our project management, on renovations, additions, and second-storey work. We are now opening a limited number of custom-home build slots per year, with the same trades and standards we have proven on those projects. We would rather tell you that honestly than overstate a track record.
  • A custom home is logistically larger but procedurally similar to a major renovation: design, permits, foundation, frame, mechanical rough-in, finish, walkthrough. The key differences are scale, lead times on engineering and concrete, and the BC 2-5-10 New Home Warranty registration that comes with new construction. Our trades and our project management approach are the same.
  • Yes. If you are already working with an interior designer or architect, we work alongside them as your execution partner. If you are starting without one, we can recommend designers we have built renovations and additions with. We do not require a design-build process.
  • Custom-home pricing varies significantly with finish level, site difficulty, and design complexity. As a general framework, ground-up custom builds in the Fraser Valley typically run from roughly $400 to $700 per square foot for current finish standards, with premium custom work going higher. We quote line-item against firm design rather than per-square-foot, so you see what is driving every dollar.
  • Yes. Most of our team grew up working on Fraser Valley acreage. Rural builds add septic, wells, hydro extensions, longer driveways, and drainage planning to the standard custom-home scope. None of that is a barrier. It is just additional planning we cost into the schedule and budget at quote stage.
  • Most Fraser Valley custom builds take 12 to 18 months from foundation to occupancy. Design and permitting typically add another 3 to 6 months before construction starts. Site complexity, weather, and finish level all affect the timeline. We give you a realistic schedule before contract, not an optimistic one.
  • On a limited basis. We are taking a small number of builds per year while we expand our team for new construction. Reach out early. We will tell you honestly where we stand on schedule and whether we are the right fit for your project.
  • BC custom homes carry the mandatory 2-5-10 New Home Warranty: 2 years on labour and materials, 5 years on the building envelope, 10 years on structural defects, backed by third-party insurance. On top of that, we carry our 12-month Huntley Workmanship Commitment from possession.

Talk to us early.

The earliest conversations are the most useful ones. Talk to us before you have committed to a lot, before a single line of the design is locked. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit and what the build looks like from here.
