Overview

Huntley Construction (“Huntley,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information you provide to us through our website huntleyrenovations.ca and related services.

We operate in British Columbia, Canada, and comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Information we collect

We only collect information that you voluntarily provide or that is necessary to deliver our services. This includes:

  • Contact information: name, email address, phone number, and mailing address when you submit an inquiry, request a quote, or schedule an on-site visit.
  • Project information: details about your project, property, and requirements that you share with us voluntarily.
  • Communication records: emails, text messages, and notes from our conversations about your project.
  • Website analytics: anonymized data about how visitors use our website (page views, referral sources, device type). We do not collect personally identifying analytics without consent.
  • Cookies: our website uses minimal cookies strictly necessary for functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

How we use your information

We use your personal information only for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your inquiries and communicate with you about your project
  • To prepare quotes, contracts, and other business documents
  • To deliver construction services you have engaged us for
  • To process payments and maintain accurate business records
  • To send you updates about your active project and any warranty or service follow-ups
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for marketing to anyone other than yourself, and only in connection with services you've expressed interest in.

When we share information

We may share limited personal information with:

  • Subcontractors and trade partners (drywall, paint, flooring, etc.) working on your project — only the information they need to do their work
  • Municipal permit offices when required for permits on your behalf
  • Service providers who help us operate (e.g. email delivery via Resend, website hosting via Vercel) — under confidentiality agreements
  • Legal or regulatory authorities when required by law

We require any third party handling your information to maintain equivalent or stronger privacy protections.

How we protect your information

We implement reasonable technical, physical, and administrative safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS) on our website
  • Secure, access-controlled storage of client files
  • Regular review of our data-handling practices and access permissions
  • Employees are trained on privacy responsibilities and access is limited on a need-to-know basis

While we take privacy seriously, no system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we commit to promptly notifying you if a breach meaningfully affects your personal information.

How long we keep your information

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes it was collected for, to comply with legal and regulatory obligations (including construction warranty periods and tax records), and to resolve disputes. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

Your rights

Under Canadian and BC privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request corrections to inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent for us to use your information (subject to legal and contractual requirements)
  • Ask us to delete your information where legally possible
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the BC Information and Privacy Commissioner

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@huntleyltd.com or send us a message through the booking form. We will respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If we learn we've collected such information, we will delete it.
