Where Huntley started
Huntley Electrical came first.
Before we built a construction division, before we brought on plumbers, Huntley was an electrical company. That history matters. It is why our electricians are the standard the rest of the company was built around, not an afterthought.
Years of Chilliwack electrical work is what that history looks like on paper. Homeowners who called for a panel upgrade and stayed in touch. Builders who needed sub-trade electrical and kept coming back. Commercial clients who trusted us with tenant improvements and came back for the next location.
Today, Huntley Electrical runs as its own division and also as the electrical arm of every construction project. When you hire Huntley Construction, the electrician wiring your renovation is the same electrician who has been doing Chilliwack service upgrades for years. Same standards, same people. Standalone service work, panel upgrades, and EV charger installs are scoped through the Huntley Electrical residential division.

“Huntley upgraded our panel and installed an EV charger in one day. Red Seal certified, permitted, passed inspection immediately. Exactly what you would hope for.”

Electrical FAQs
Before we pull a wire.
Service upgrades, EV chargers, permits, Red Seal. The questions homeowners ask our Red Seal electricians most.
- Employees. Our electricians are full-time Huntley staff, Red Seal certified, working exclusively on Huntley projects. That's different from most general contractors, who coordinate electrical through outside sub-trades.
- Both. Huntley Electrical runs as its own division and handles standalone electrical work: service upgrades, panel replacements, EV chargers, new circuits, repairs. You don't need to be doing a renovation to hire us. For electrical-only inquiries, you can also visit our dedicated site at huntleyelectrical.ca.
- Many Chilliwack homes built before the 1990s have 60-amp or 100-amp electrical service, which was adequate for that era. Modern homes with electric vehicles, heat pumps, electric ranges, and more appliances routinely need 200-amp service. Adding a legal suite, finishing a basement, or installing an EV charger often triggers the need for an upgrade.
- A standard 100A-to-200A service upgrade typically takes one day for the panel work itself, plus coordination with BC Hydro for the meter swap and any temporary power shutoff. Total project timeline from quote to completion is usually 2-4 weeks, most of which is waiting on BC Hydro and permits.
- Yes, we respond to electrical emergencies such as no power, burning smell, tripped breakers that won't reset, or exposed wiring. Use the Book a Design Consultation form and flag it as urgent in the message. If it's a life-safety issue, call the fire department first.
- Yes. Tesla, ChargePoint, JuiceBox, Grizzl-E, Wallbox, and others. What matters is the load calculation (whether your panel can handle the addition), the circuit sizing, and proper installation to code. We handle all of that.
- Permit costs are set by the municipality and vary by scope. A simple circuit addition permit is under $100 in most cases. A full service upgrade permit runs $200-400. We pull permits on your behalf and include them in the scope.
- In BC, electrical work is regulated. Most work requires a licensed electrician (LEC license) and a permit. Red Seal is a national certification that's a higher standard on top of licensing. Our electricians hold both. Hiring an unlicensed electrician or doing the work yourself can void insurance, fail inspections, and affect your home's sale.
